Organizations Involved

Papeteries de Vizille operates within an international industrial group, requiring a digital platform capable of supporting diverse subsidiaries and their individual business needs.

About the project

Goals
- Give Papèteries de Vizille, the speciality paper mill of the group, a showcase matching the positioning of its products: security papers, luxury and premium papers, food-contact papers and industrial paper sacks
- Address an international, mostly B2B audience of converters, printers, packaging designers and industrial buyers
- Make a technically dense catalogue readable, from paper grades and certifications to end-use applications
- Support the brand's trade-show driven communication rhythm (Luxe Pack, ID Week, Batimat)
- Preserve the specific visual identity of the paper mill inside a shared, mutualised platform

Requirements
- A dedicated theme carrying the brand's own graphic identity, derived from the factory master theme
- A complete bilingual French/English site, product pages included
- A content structure separating product ranges, expertise and know-how, concrete realisations and news
- Pages covering certifications, environmental declarations, heritage, values, energy strategy and recruitment
- Contact and quotation request forms routed to the commercial team
- Strong on-page SEO and structured data, since the site targets very specific technical queries
- The ability to reuse the resulting theme as a basis for other brands of the factory

Outcome
- A bilingual site covering the full range: security papers for means of payment, official documents and brand protection; premium and uncoated papers of the DeLux Collection; PFAS-free food-contact papers; bulky publishing papers; and industrial sacks for construction, minerals, seeds and animal feed
- A dedicated sub-theme extending the factory master theme, which later became the reference base for another brand site of the factory
- Around one hundred content items maintained in both languages by the subsidiary's own team, with no developer involvement
- Structured data and hreflang metadata generated for every language version, and a site-specific XML sitemap
- A site operated at the marginal cost of the shared factory, while keeping a fully distinct identity and editorial governance

Why Drupal was chosen

Papèteries de Vizille is one of the thirty or so subsidiary and brand websites that the group runs on a shared Drupal site factory. Drupal was chosen for the factory, and therefore for this site:
- A single code base and a single content model able to serve many subsidiaries, each with its own identity, languages and product catalogue
- A theming layer that allows a dedicated sub-theme to be created for a brand that needs its own visual signature, while still inheriting the shared component library
- Native multilingual support, essential for a manufacturer that exports most of its speciality papers
- Strong content modelling for a catalogue mixing product ranges, expertise pages, references and news
- Solid SEO foundations, since the site is a primary acquisition channel for B2B enquiries
- A security and maintenance policy applied once and benefiting every site of the factory

Drupal makes it possible to give a subsidiary a genuinely tailored website without rebuilding a platform for it.

Why these modules/theme/distribution were chosen

Paragraphs, Menu Item Extras and Quick Node Clone carry the catalogue and the day-to-day editorial work. Paragraphs supplies the component library - product blocks, mosaics, expertise blocks, sliders, realisation blocks - from which the subsidiary's team builds its own pages, without a development cycle for each new layout. Menu Item Extras enriches the navigation with the visual mega-menu a catalogue of this depth requires, where paper grades, end uses and know-how have to remain reachable in two clicks. Quick Node Clone lets editors duplicate an existing product page as the basis of a new grade, which is the most frequent editorial action on a range that evolves continuously.

Multilingual publishing and search visibility rely on Content Translation, Translatable Menu Link URI, Metatag hreflang, Schema.org Metatag and Simple XML Sitemap. The whole catalogue is translated into English, the working language of most of the mill's export customers, including menus and menu link targets so that each language version navigates natively. Metatag hreflang declares the language alternates, Schema.org Metatag exposes the product, organisation and article structured data the site depends on to rank on very narrow technical queries - PFAS-free food-contact paper, watermarked security paper, premium uncoated board - and Simple XML Sitemap keeps both versions fully indexed.

ImageAPI Optimize and SVG Image answer the presentation constraints of a paper manufacturer. The whole positioning of the range rests on texture, grain and finish, so product pages are extremely image-heavy and their rendering quality cannot be traded away. ImageAPI Optimize compresses the derivatives without visible loss, keeping the catalogue fast for international visitors, while SVG Image handles logos, certification marks and technical diagrams as vectors, so they stay sharp at any resolution and remain translatable alongside the rest of the content.
