Organizations Involved

Atlas Ski Co specializes in premium catered chalet accommodations and short ski breaks in Morzine, France. They require a seamless digital experience for users to navigate chalets, hotels, and complex "Ski Extras" (e.g., lift passes, ski hire, airport transfers). Joshi Consultancy Services provided technical consulting and infrastructure management to ensure their Drupal platform matched the premium nature of their physical services.

About the project

The Challenge: The hospitality sector requires highly relational content models. A user booking "Chalet Atlas" needs localized access to dynamic "Extras" like Doorstep Skis, Skiidy Gonzales transfers, and childcare. The legacy Drupal system required maintenance to ensure these complex entity relationships remained stable, fast, and easily updatable by the Atlas team.

The Solution:

  • Relational Content Architecture: We utilized Entity Reference fields combined with a hierarchical Taxonomy system to link the core 'Accommodation' content type with dynamic 'Ski Extras' (lift passes, gear hire, transfers). By mapping both content types to shared location vocabularies, we configured contextual Views to automatically filter and display only the specific services available for a given chalet. This modular approach eliminated data duplication and ensured the client could update a single 'Ski Extra' node and have it instantly reflect across all associated property pages.
  • Performance Optimization: Executed backend optimizations to ensure fast load times for high-resolution imagery and complex views across the chalet portfolios.
  • Strategic Upgrade Path: Audited the existing codebase to prevent unnecessary custom module development, advising the executive team on a lean, modular approach in preparation for a Drupal 11 migration.
  • Advanced Inquiry Routing: Deployed custom form handlers using the Webform module to capture complex booking inquiries, ensuring leads are routed directly to the sales team while retaining the contextual data of the specific property the user was viewing.

The Outcome: The consulting and infrastructure work provided Atlas Ski Co with a reliable, high-performance platform. The system successfully handles complex relational data between accommodations and external services, providing a stable foundation for the business while they prepare for their major version upgrade.

Why Drupal was chosen

The premium ski hospitality sector relies on deep, interconnected content relationships. Drupal was chosen because its core architecture excels at linking distinct data types—seamlessly connecting specific chalets to localized ski passes, airport transfers, and childcare services. This advanced relational content modeling, combined with Drupal’s robust caching system for delivering high-resolution, image-heavy property portfolios, provides a stable, highly customizable foundation that off-the-shelf hospitality platforms cannot match.
