composer require drupal/horizonaid
Horizon Aid is a free site template for NGOs, nonprofits, charities, foundations and humanitarian aid organizations. It installs a complete website with pages for your programs, the countries you work in, events and resources, plus a donate page and newsletter sign-up calls to action.
Every page is built with Drupal Canvas, so editors change layouts and content without code. Listings update as you publish, and the demo content is there to be replaced.
Built for
- NGOs and humanitarian aid organizations
- Nonprofits and charities
- Foundations
- Organizations reporting on work across several countries
What you get
- Pages ready to publish: home, about, programs, countries, events, resources and donate.
- Country pages: one page per country, covering your role, work on the ground, key figures and partners. Twelve countries ship as demo content.
- Programs and resources: a page for each program, and a resources listing with individual resource pages.
- Events: dates, location, categories and an events listing.
- Field updates: blog posts for news and reports from the field.
- Listings that stay current: every listing is a view with a card display, so publishing or unpublishing content updates the site without editing a page.
- Calls to action: a donate page and newsletter sign-up. [Confirm] whether the donate page processes payments or links to an external provider.
- A working site on first install: demo content, media and menus, so a fresh install looks like a live site rather than an empty shell.

Quality and testing
- Tested to WCAG 2.2 Level AA, with 0 axe-core violations across every public page for anonymous visitors.
- Every release runs an automated functional acceptance test suite on a fresh Drupal CMS install before it is tagged.
- Installs with no patches, on Drupal CMS and on the Varbase project.

FAQ
Is Horizon Aid free?
Yes. It is open source under GPL-2.0-or-later, and every part of it, including the theme, comes from drupal.org.
Which Drupal version does it need?
Drupal CMS 2 (Drupal 11).
How do I install it?
Require drupal/horizonaid with Composer, then choose Horizon Aid in the Drupal CMS installer. The commands on this page do the same with DDEV and Drush.
Do editors need to write code?
No. Every page is built with Drupal Canvas and edited in the Canvas editor. Listings update on their own as content is published.
Can I add my own countries and programs?
Yes. The twelve demo countries are examples. Add, edit or remove country and program pages like any other content.
Is it accessible?
It is tested to WCAG 2.2 Level AA on every public page, with 0 axe-core violations, and the check runs again on each release.
Does it track visitors?
No analytics or tracking is enabled by default. Form submissions stay in your site's own database.
Is hosting included?
No. Horizon Aid is a site template. Deploy it on any hosting that supports Drupal CMS.
Where can I get help?
Open an issue in the drupal.org issue queue. Vardot maintains the project and triages issues there.
